How to Install the Imersian Shopify App: Step-by-Step Setup Guide

Before you start

You need a Shopify store with an Online Store 2.0 theme, admin access to install apps, and product photos and sizes for the products you want shown. You do not need to supply 3D models: Imersian builds a 3D model of every product shown in the Visualizer. Rug, flooring, wallpaper, wall art and other flat or surface product models are free; AI 3D models of furniture and home decor use credits, or you can upload your own GLB files.

Step 1: Install the Imersian app

1. Open the Imersian listing on the Shopify App Store (apps.shopify.com/imersian), or log in to the Imersian Portal and go to Integration, then Connect store, and choose Shopify.
2. Click Install.
3. Shopify returns you to your admin to approve the app's permissions. Approve them.
4. Back in the Imersian Portal, check the Integration page shows your store as connected. If you are asked for your store, enter your myshopify.com subdomain, for example my-rug-store for my-rug-store.myshopify.com, and click Save.

Step 2: Tag the products you want in the Visualizer

1. In Shopify admin, open each product you want shoppers to see in their room.
2. Add the tag imersianvisualiserenabled and save. You can bulk-edit tags across many products at once.
3. Only tagged products sync, so you choose exactly which part of your catalogue goes live.

Step 3: Add sizes and photos

Scale is everything in a room visualizer, so each product needs its real size. Imersian reads it from your variant titles and product descriptions.

• Rugs: put the size in the variant title, for example 120 x 180 cm or 5 x 8 ft.
• Furniture: put the dimensions in the variant title or description, for example 80 W x 45 H x 60 D cm.
• Always include the unit: cm, mm or ft.
• If you don't want sizes shown on your store, set or override them in the Imersian Portal after the sync.

For photos, use one clear image per variant: rugs top-down, wall art straight on, furniture at a slight angle, on a white or plain background, with the whole product in frame and no props, watermarks or lifestyle scenes. If you only have lifestyle shots, Design Studio in the Portal can create clean product images from them.

To choose exactly which photo Imersian uses, open that image in Shopify admin and set its alt text to imersianvisualiserimage. If you leave it unset, our team can have the best image picked for you during onboarding.

Step 4: Sync your products

• Automatic: a daily sync picks up new and changed tagged products.
• Manual: trigger a sync from the Integration page in the Portal for one product or all of them.
• Large catalogues can take longer to sync. Refresh the products page in the Portal after a few minutes.

Step 5: Onboarding and 3D models

Once your products are in the Portal, our team onboards them with you. Imersian builds the 3D model of each product from your photos and checks sizes and quality. A one-off onboarding fee applies. Each product's page in the Portal shows its 3D model and an AR QR code, and you can replace a model with your own GLB file at any time.

Step 6: Turn on the app embed and add the View in room button

The Imersian app adds a Shopify theme app extension, so there is no Liquid to edit and uninstalling leaves your theme as it was.

1. In Shopify admin, go to Online Store, then Themes, and click Customize on your live theme.
2. Open App embeds in the Theme Editor sidebar, find the Imersian embed and switch it on.
3. Open your product page template.
4. Click Add block, open the Apps tab and add the Imersian Visualizer block, and the AR button block if you want it.
5. Drag the block where you want it. We recommend directly beneath the Add to cart button.
6. Save, then preview a tagged product.

The buttons appear only on products that are tagged and live in Imersian. To match your theme's own button style, our team can help you add a small Custom Liquid block.

Step 7: Choose your buttons and go live

In the Imersian Portal, choose which call-to-action buttons shoppers see and what they say, for example See it in my room. Then use Check my storefront on the Integration page: the Portal opens a real product page, the way a shopper sees it, and confirms the Visualizer is live. Retailers go live within 2 weeks.

Troubleshooting

• The button doesn't appear: check the product has the imersianvisualiserenabled tag, has synced, and is live in the Portal, and that the app embed is switched on in the Theme Editor.
• Integration error when syncing: check the store connected in the Portal's Integration settings is the right myshopify.com store.
• A product shows at the wrong size: check the unit in the variant title, or override the size in the Portal.
• Two colors look the same: give each variant its own image and check each variant has a unique SKU.
• White products look grey: send a higher-contrast photo, or a close-up showing the material.
